Our History

In 2020 after many conversations, Samantha and Levi purchased 40 acres in Flat Rock, AL, near their hometown, to start a sanctuary for farmed animals. With the sanctuary, they wanted to promote a message of peace and justice for all sentient beings, human and nonhuman, and create an environment where individuals of all species, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, etc., had a place where they would feel safe, seen, and free of discrimination. In 2021, they moved from Tampa, FL, to Flat Rock, AL, and founded GFS.
